Services

The HPCI offers a portfolio of services to users to help support their research needs. These range from "hard" services, such as computing cycles, large scale storage and virtual servers, to professional services such as consulting, software development, and training. The HPCI makes the successful pursuit of research computing at ASU it's top priority, so please contact us if you need a service that's not listed.

Core Hardware Services

  • Cycles -The core of the HPCI is our ability to provide vast quantities of computing power to the ASU Research community. You can request an account on our systems here, and you should review our policies around allocation of the computers here.
  • Storage - With the capacity for large scale computing comes the capacity for generating large quantities of data. Whether from simulation or from instruments, managing large quantities of data is increasingly a core challenge of performing modern research. At the core of this problem is providing a robust, reliable repository for datasets. The HPCI in conjunction with UTO is offering a Campus Wide Research Storage system, capable of hosting projects up the scale of multiple petabytes. You can find out more here.
  • Virtual Servers - A "lab server" is an integral part of most research teams; as a portal, for sharing files, to run web services, to keep a database, etc. To provide the function and control of a server without the administrative overhead, and maintenance headaches, not to mention the constant need to upgrade, the HPCI has partnered with ETS to offer a new Virtual Server facility. What appears to be a single system to you will actually be a virtual machine running in a redundant server farm. Users will have full control, but will never again worry about replacing a failed disk drive.
