Computation Cycles
The Fulton High Performance Computing Initiative (HPCI) offers world-class computational resources for Arizona State University’s research community and our partners. Over 400 researchers currently use the HPCI systems to perform complex calculations in such areas as modeling our atmosphere, design of aircraft, engineering new materials, analyzing proteins, and predicting growth of urban areas. Saguaro, the flagship HPCI system, currently consists of over 4,500 Intel Xeon processor cores interconnected with a high speed network, and enough high speed storage to copy the entire Library of Congress. HPCI’s user support team provides comprehensive support for a wide range of open-source, commercial and in-house applications.
Allocations of compute time are available to all ASU researchers, students, and our partners. Multi-site data backup and 10,000 free processor-hours are available to all ASU faculty. Additional processing hours can be acquired by submitting research proposals.
Collaborators from industry can also work with the Fulton HPCI in a variety of ways, including access to systems, short courses in HPC for employees, and deeper collaborations to adapt applications to HPC through our contracting and consulting services. Most importantly, companies can benefit from Fulton School graduates who have been involved with the HPCI, and possess the next generation computational engineering skills needed to design products at the speed a competitive marketplace demands.
